I am researching the Kelly/Kelley family who lived in KC Kansas in the Early 1900's to Present. Descendent Patrick Lewis Kelly (1956) is my Son in Law. I hope to be able to trace the Kelly/Kelly family back to earlier generations for the sake of my grandchildren. Family Stories told to my Son in law indicated that the reason the family stopped in KC area was because as they traveled from Maine to CA their transportation broke down.. Lewis Stanley Kelley/Kelly was born in Wyandote County KS in 1927. He spent most of his mature years in military before retiring to Bonner Springs Kansas. His two twin children born while he was in Calif. in the marines. Patrick Lewis Kelly and Kathleen Kelly born in 1956 in CALIF. went to Bonner Springs High School and Graduated about 1982. Lewis S Kelley shows up in 1930 Census. Father is listed by Ancestry Index as Richie Kelley (Original looks like Archie and Patrick says he understood his grandfather was named Archibald) Mother is listed as Berniece Kelley. with Children Edwina E., Leannd (should be Leonard) E. and Lewis S. In the household is Therisult R. Kelley who is listed as Mother, but is probably Step mother as she is 35 compared to Richie(Archie) who is 26. Siblings of Archie are Edna and Ada. The Birth of Richie (Archie) is listed as Kansas the birth place of his mother does not relate to the birth place of Therisult Kelley. while the young siblings appear to be her children with Richie(Archie's) father after the death of his first wife. I can find no records of this family prior to the 1930 Census concerning Richie and Bernieces families. Lewis S. Kelly had several wives but only know children are the twins born in Calif to his last Wife Katheen Chesney in Las Vegas Nevada in 1956. Kathleen Chesney Kelly died in Bonner Springs KS in 1996. I think she was Cremated but have no record of by what funeral home. Lewis Kelly is uncooperative with information to even his own children. Kathleen Chesney was born about 1927 in either OK or CA and had previous marriages and possible children. Any information on this family would be appreciated. **************New year...new news.
