I know I'm not Diane, but I might be able to get you a rough idea. It's west of KCK, around 112th St. and Parallel. It probably goes out around Hwy 7 (west of I-435). It's really close to the new race track and "shopping mecca" (i.e. Cabela's). We were concerned for awhile that we would lose the Brown Homestead to the highway additions that were going to be made for the development. It is an old community, and I believe has been annexed by KCK. Hope that helps! About where is/was Piper. Is Piper an old community like Rosedale, Armoudale, etc. but is now KCK? Thanks Lara, using your info I did find the location on Google Maps and they have it labeled "Piper." Do you know if Piper had its own "downtown" or was it just a farming community? Just curious. I don't get down there very often. My wife more than me, she goes to Nebraska Furniture Mart. (We're near Gladstone.) Are you in the Piper community? How noisy is it when there's a race going? ----- Original Message ----- From: <ca07@finneycounty.org> To: <kswyando@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 26, 2009 11:59 AM Subject: Re: [Wyandotte County] Piper, KS >I know I'm not Diane, but I might be able to get you a rough idea. Not Lara, but I can tell you it does get very loud and noisy and crowded with folks during the races. My husband and son attend. I usually try to get out of town on those weekends or stay home and mow. It has been a real adjustment for a lot of us, but all in the name of progress. The western corridor as this area of KCK is referred to now has seen a lot of ground gobbled up and a few historical structures demolished. I am glad some of us have taken the time to archive what we can. Just hope, as all do that economy picks up so that all this progress wasn't in vain.
