Marian, I think I may have a photograph of Alma Klamm somewhere. I have no idea how she would be related to us, but I'm sure she is. The Richard Klamm she would have raised would NOT have been my father, but I'll ask him if he knew of another in the family. Dad and Mom moved to Holdrege in about 1958ish. Mom died in 1989, but Dad still lives there. The downtown is really drying up, but they just built a huge YMCA, community theater and veteran's hospital on the north side. Holdrege also has a terrific museum. It is my understanding from my cousins, who all still live in the KC area, that Klamm Park is no longer a "safe" place to visit. ~kate ----------------- > Marian Sarantha nee Stewart here in snowy WY, grateful member of John's > terrific mail list. Hi, Kate, I can well believe the warning about Klamm Park. Haven't been back to that scene in well over 50 years. And I never go into the area of KCK where I grew up, which was quite respectable in its heyday. Would love to see a picture of Alma Klamm if you can produce one. She was small in stature, usually wore silk or rayon dresses with tiny prints, and always practical black shoes with stacked heels (ultra conservative, as teachers were expected to be in that era.) She wore pince nez glasses and it always amazed me how people could maintain them on their nose. (My father wore them for a time, too.) I can visualize Miss Klamm so clearly. Good to hear from you, and thanks for writing. A nicely written history of Klamm Park has been updated on the Public Schools of Wyandotte County, Kansas 1844- 2009 website. Attached links show photographs of the Klamm family. I spend hundreds of delightful childhood hours playing at Klamm Park with my cousins and friends. Great memories. Here is the link... http://www.kckps.org/DISTHISTORY/dist-history/bios/klamm.htm pamela tate --- On Tue, 1/6/09, Kate & David Clabough <dv121212@charter.net> wrote: From: Kate & David Clabough <dv121212@charter.net> Subject: Re: [Wyandotte County] Wyandotte County Mailing List To: kswyando@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 8:10 PM Marian, I think I may have a photograph of Alma Klamm somewhere.
