Actually it concerned her family, her brother (my uncle) who died in 1966. His info: Name: SAM CHESTINE CASEY (may be spelled CACY) Birth: 16 Jan 1919 in Matoaka, Mercer, WV Death: 04 Feb 1966 in Kansas City, KS Growing up in CA, I never met this Uncle nor heard much about him. At almost 60, I now find that this uncle had quite a checkered past; According to other information I have since learned from his still living brother, he was sent to Leavenworth Prison for desertion around the end of WWII. Once out, he settled in Witchita, KS and married. Things went from bad to worse (according to kin) and in the early 1950's, he took up with the wrong people and ended up robbing a bank and sent to Leavenworth again :-( To be near him, his wife (Audrey) moves to Kansas City, KS . His brother is unsure of how long the sentence was, but he ends up dying under 'suspicious circumtances' in Kansas City, KS on 04 Feb 1966. At the time, my grandmother had his body flown back to West Virginia where he was buried. The funeral director (a friend of the family) said that in preparing the body for burial he found that my uncle's neck had been cut. :-/. The death certificate (which I never saw) was where it evidently mentioned death 'under mysterious circumstances'. They thought at the time that it was a bit odd that the police dept. didn't provide any more information, but no one looked into it any further. At this time, only my other uncle (Sam's brother), is still living and he has a hard time remembering anything. The only information other than family info, that I've been able to obtain comes from the funeral home. They've been able to give me the only information they still had...giving me his exact birth and death dates as well as affirming the fact that he died in Kansas. I'm hoping that someone will help me locate an obit. or an article concerning the 'possible' murder or at least the circumstances surrounding his death. I would think it would be in one of the leading newspapers for Kansas City at the time......first part of Feb 1966 Any help in this research would be deeply appreciated. Thank you.
