There is Shawnee County, KS, where the state captial of Topeka is located. There is the City of Shawnee, located in Johnson County, Ks. And there is the Township of Shawnee, located in Wyandotte County, KS. The south border of this township is also part of the county line between Johnson and Wyandotte counties. I think Twylla was refering to this township in her message. Note that this township will also appear in the Federal Census as one of the divisions for the census in Wyandotte County. So yes, one must make sure that they are usnign teh correct name for the location they are searching in.
