Mrs. Virginia Frances Harris died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Blanche Humphrey 446 Nebraska avenue, Kansas City, Kansas Friday morning, July 8, 1910. Mrs. Harris was the widow of the late Captain James H. Harris, a veteran and gallant officer in the civil war. She was one of the pioneers of this city and during the trials and hardships incident to the settlement of a new country and an internecine war she bore her part with womanly dignity and fortitude. She was sympathetic and kind hearted with a cheery happy disposition. Miss Virginia Frances Brown was born in Louden (Loudoun) county, Virginia, August 7,1832, emigrated with her parents in childhood to Zanesville, Ohio, where she was married to James H. Harris, September 6, 1849. Her husband, Captain Harris, died September 21, 1887, two sons died in infancy and two sons, Charles B. G. and Harvey in early manhood. Mrs. Blanche Humphrey, D. B. Harris, Mrs. Fannie N. Porter, an adopted daughter, and Otto F. Harris, survive her.
