Any idea on how I can find the woman that was married to Michael in Ohio? I can't get anything on Michael Whalen except that he was a widower who ended up in Kansas, living with his brother James. James immigration route was Ireland to Castle Garden to unknown US places until he gets to TN, Bates, MO to Wyandotte, KS. I have a clearer picture on Mary Ann Dempsey. Born in Washington DC to Patrick and Mary Dempsey. Then to Allegheny, Virginia, Jefferson, Indiana then to Hamiliton, TN then to Bates, MO and finally to Wyandotte, KS. I am looking for Dempsey family members who were in Kansas in the early 1900s. Also more info on James Whalen's brothers and sisters. Michael is listed as being born in KS, with father b. IRE and mother TN. Michael is a manager at a wholesale furniture company. Michael's wife Ethel b. abt 1903 OH. Father WV, mother OH. They have a daughter Marjorie, 3 yrs and 2 mos, in a census taken in Jan 1920. Also in the household are probably Ethel's parents, the Stewarts. Michael John Whalen's WWI Draft Registration shows him born Nov 25, 1889 in Kansas City, KS and living in Huntington WV. He is an office clerk in a plate glass company, married and with one child under 12. In the 1930 census, Michael is still in Huntington, WV and Edward is in Chicago. No way to be positive these are your people but the chances seem good. I suggest you hunt for death dates and obits for Edward and Michael. It may lead you to all the boys. Good Luck! Thanks for the info; I have been to the museum many times but sadly it's very sporadic as to when you can find anyone that knows anything. The archivist is very helpful and some of the volunteers are too, but many don't have the knowledge I'm seeking. Sadly their hours and mine never seen to coincide. Woodlawn has been in care of the Parks Dept for many years and it's condition isn't good.
