    2. With all the information about The Green Parrot Inn it stirred up memories of another famous restaurant in Kansas City "The Wishbone" on Main Street. It was in an old house and was not open for very long; how long I do not remember. However; this is the restaurant where Wishbone's Oil and Vinegar dressing was given birth. The following is a picture taken from the interior of the restaurant (so they think); however, I don't remember it being like this. Maybe my memory is wrong but it was a big beautiful old brick home and there were no rooms that large...I would rather think a room of this size could have been the Green Parrot Inn. _Click here: Missouri Valley Special Collections : Item Viewer_ (http://www.kchistory.org/cdm4/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=/Education&CISOPTR=487&CISOBOX=1&RE C=1) I also found this site which is very interesting. However, you have to pay to get into it. I am going to do this but don't have Pay Pal and since it is 2 am I will wait until tomorrow to get involved with whatever that will take. At least take a look at the site to see what all is offered. _Click here: Vintage Pictures of The Country Club Plaza / Ward Parkway / Loose Park_ (http://oldkc.com/images_missouri_kcmo_plaza.htm) **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. W. SEEK, 1053 Splitlog Avenue, Kansas side. Since 1877, when she began teaching in the little frame school- house in "The Bottoms," where the Wood Street School now stands, she had been almost constantly a teacher in the third and fourth grades of the public schools in Wyandotte County. She taught in old Central School, Everett School and Armstrong School in the early days of the public school system. She had been in charge of the second grade at the Longfellow School the last ten years. With the exception of twelve years, she had taught continuously in schools on the Kansas side since 1877. Mrs. STEVENS was past matron of Mendias Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and for forty years had been active in the work of the Masonic auxiliary. When a girl, Mrs. STEVENS made her home with the family of W. P. OVERTON, a Wyandotte County pioneer, and spent the greater part of her girlhood in old Wyandotte. She was 59 years old. She is survived by her husband, Arthur STEVENS; a son, Hiram O. STEVENS and two brothers, William O'BRIEN of Riley, Kas., and J. E. O'BRIEN of Miami, Ok. 1. Re: [Wyandotte County] Mailing List--ROBB/FERGUSON/JENKINS
    2. Hello fellow Listers... My name is Louise and I live in Mesa, AZ. I moved here just over a year ago from Omaha, NE. My connection to Wyandotte County involves the ROBB family, who moved from Mercer County, IL about 1880 to Norton County, KS. Not much later, they settled in Phillips County, KS. I was able to find information about nine of the ten children of James L. ROBB and Mary Jane Kimmel, except their youngest daughter, Alice F. who seemed to just disappear. Her first husband was Worth FERGUSON from Iowa. He died, and Alice remarried in 1895, but it took a long time to find out she married Amos JENKINS, and they lived in Wyandotte County. Now, I have a lot of family information about Amos Jenkins and Alice Robb Ferguson Jenkins, thanks to a lot of help from the List members. (A special thanks to Melissa for a special trip she made to take pictures of tombstones to send me.) The next search was for Alice F. Ferguson, daughter of Alice and her first husband. Eventually, I found out that she worked for the Harvey Company as a clerk and died in Chicago. Another "person of interest" is Lilly Glancey BUTLER, but I haven't done any research on her yet. The members on this List are so helpful and that is appreciated so much by those of us who do not live there. Thank you! Louise **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. Author: K_Clabough Surnames: Thomas, Mack Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.wyandotte/1650/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Pasted in my Grandma Alice (Mack) Turner's school memory book are a handful of newspaper clippings. The first set is about a couple that filed for divorce. I'm guessing at the date of 1925 and although I'm not 100% sure of the newspapers in which they appeared, I'm fairly certain they were KCK papers since Grandma lived with her parents there at the time. They had recently moved from 313 Walker Street to somewhere on N. 12th St by that time, I think. To my knowledge, I'm not related to this couple. My guess is that the wife was a friend or acquaintance of Grandma Alice or her sister Eva since in mentions that the woman worked at the telephone company. So did Eva and Alice. ~k --------------- HE MADE FUN OF HER COOKING Now Kansas City, Kansas Bride, 18, Asks a Divorce Charging her husband, Fred A. Thomas, 21 years old, made fun of her cooking and treated her cruelly, Mrs. Eva May Thomas, 18, 1403 Central Avenue, Kansas City, Kas., yesterday filed suit for a divorce in the Wyandotte County District court. There were married September 20, 1924 and separated January 31. HUSBAND CALLS COOKING POOR; SHE ASKS FOR DIVORCE Charging her husband criticised her cooking and that he used caveman tactics in his criticism and locked her in her room when she threatened to quit her job, Mrs. Eva May Thomas, 18 years old, 1403 Central Avenue, Kansas City, Kas., yesterday filed suit for divorce from Fred A. Thomas. Mrs. Thomas said they were married September 20, 1924. She alleges her husband said her cooking was poor and threw her across a chair. Later, she said, he locked her in her room to prevent her quitting her job with the telephone company and to keep her from telling her parents of his treatment. She asks alimony and an order restraining her husband from visiting her. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
