    2. That is the same person. Susie Brown Bigham is his older sister. So, she would also be in your Newton line. I don't have her DOB available right now. If you'd like it, I can get it for you; just let me know. Do you need Wash's date of death? I know it was October 1998, but I don't have the exact date here. 3. I should have made myself clear. I have Newton info on living persons and a connection for going further back than Robert Henry Newton b. 1818 as we are participating in the NEWTON DNA project. Anyone else interested in the Newton line of Robert who lived in Atchison and Wyandotte counties from 1857 on is welcome to contact me for more information. One family settled on the other side of the river directly across from Wolcott hence the town of Waldron and Waldron Rd. of that area. The Brauers lived in the area now referred to as Victory Junction. They were very good friends of the Treff's. 1. [Wyandotte County] White House in Bonner Springs
    2. In the 1950's and 1960's, my grandfather owned a farm in Bonner Springs. His name was Carl Rice. We lived in KCK and I remember driving out Parallel to get there. It was located on a highway and there was a railroad siding with a bridge and an abandoned box car on the far edge of the property away from the road. It was 640 acres (a section). There was a very large 3-story white house (no one ever lived there), along with a tenant farmer's house. (Their names were Jerry and Yvo.) In addition, there was a large barn, a smaller barn, an equipment shed, storm cellar entrance, and perhaps other outbuildings. My grandfather dammed a creek and created two lakes, one of which was on the right side of the road leading to the house. The other was off to the left somewhere. I remember a creek that may have been called Wolf Creek. Supposedly the house had been a drinking establishment (speakeasy?) called the White House. The living room had a raised stage-like area on one side. When my family did some remodeling, a gun was found sealed up inside a wall. The large barn (according to my mother) was a tobacco barn. You could raise corregated metal flaps to allow air to circulate to dry the tobacco. The farm was hit by tornadoes two years in a row, after which my grandfather sold it. I don't remember the date. If anyone knows anything about the location, history, present use, I would be most appreciative.

    3. L. Elizabeth Strohmeyer Services for L. Elizabeth Strohmeyer, 88, Port Angeles, Washington, will be at 10AM Friday at the White Church Christian Church, Kansas City, Kansas. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Porter Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM Thursday. Memorials may be made to White Church Christian Church. Mrs. Strohmeyer died Friday Oct. 6, 1995 at her home. She was born in White Church, Kansas which later became part of Kansas City, Kansas. She lived in the city for 85 years before moving to Part Angeles in 1993. She was a former school teacher in western Wyandotte County and was a lifelong member of the White Church Christian Church and its Christian Women's Fellowship. She was preceded in death by husband, Henry John Strohmeyer. Surviving are two sons, Robert Strohmeyer, Port Angeles, Washington, and Francis Strohmeyer, San Rafael, California; three daughters Carol Strohmeyer, Port Angeles Washington, Marilyn Griggs of Orange, California; and Mary Ann Strohmeyer of Leavenworth, Kansas. Three sisters Grace Virginia Campbell, St. Petersburg, Florida; Helen Wood Burton and Mary K. Wood both of Kansas City, Missouri. She has 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. ***Don't know if this obit was cut from the Kansas City Star or the Kansas City Kansan. It is one of many that Herbert Treff cut out and kept in a book . Elizabeth attended Piper High School and graduated in the class of 1924. Her family must have moved to the Piper area which was just a couple miles west of White Church or should would have attended Washington Rural High School. White Church did not have a high school.

    1. [Wyandotte County] Prairie Cemetery
    2. This cemetery is located at 105th and Leavenworth Road. It is a very old cemetery and I am sure that the Wyandotte County historical society also has a complete list. I made this list years ago when I visited the cemetery. In the 1970's it was referred to as the Jaggard/Jaccard Ingram cemetery. The official name is Prairie Cemetery. To the best of my knowledge the last person buried there was in the 1940's, but I could be in error. Most markers are in pretty bad shape. I used baby powder and a 1" paint brush for dusting in order to read markers. There were a lot of leaves on the ground and I had to move carefully as to not disturb plots. I will make some notations at the end of the listing for those I know anything about. Moses E. Forrester 1836-1909 and his wife Mary 1848-1911; Walter Carpenter; Robert Blankenship 1869-1907; Matie Moore September 9, 1852-October 28, 1901; Wesley Harris died September 17, 1877 aged 79 years; Honeywell Family; Alice wife of R. 3. Not Lara, but I can tell you it does get very loud and noisy and crowded with folks during the races. My husband and son attend. I usually try to get out of town on those weekends or stay home and mow. It has been a real adjustment for a lot of us, but all in the name of progress. The western corridor as this area of KCK is referred to now has seen a lot of ground gobbled up and a few historical structures demolished. I am glad some of us have taken the time to archive what we can. Just hope, as all do that economy picks up so that all this progress wasn't in vain. 2. My grandpa never really mentioned a downtown. He did talk about them going to town one time and the "hired lady" barricaded herself in their house because she heard their parrot talking outside -- he talked in different voices, she thought someone was after her =-) So, I am assuming that they didn't really have a downtown, but I could be mistaken. While my roots are in Wyandotte, I have never lived in Wyandotte. My paternal grandfather insisted that my parents move to Johnson County to try to gain more clients for their firm. Now, I'm in Finney County on the other side of the state. So, I can't answer your question about how loud it gets.
