Surnames: Pettersson, Forsberg, Degraw Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HAB.2ACI/1422 Message Board Post: I’m looking for any information on my American family. They are four siblings who, according to an obituary 1891 in Sweden, all lived in Kansas City. Christina Augusta Pettersson, b Apr 10 1853 in Sweden and married to Johan Forsberg. Johan Oskar Pettersson, b Dec 1 1855 in Sweden. Anna Kathrina Pettersson, b Jul 28 1858 in Sweden and married to Carl Edvard Degraw. Axel Reinius Pettersson, b Jan 31 1867 in Sweden. Their father, Carl Johan Petterson, b 1829 in Sweden, left for the US around 1858 and returned to his family in Sweden around 1866. Things must have gone well for him in the US as he returns to the US in 1873 together with his wife Kristina Karolina, b 1834 in Sweden, and their 6 children. As the obituary doesn’t mention two of them I assume they died in Kansas or on the boat across the Atlantic. They are: Jonas Peter Oscar Pettersson, b Apr 1 1852 in Sweden. Carl Otto Pettersson, b Nov 11 1872 in Sweden. On Jun 20 1876 Emma Lovisa Pettersson is born somewhere in Kansas. She is my great grand-mother. When the parents return to Sweden, perhaps in the late 1880’s, she is the only one of the children to follow them.

She was listed in the newspaper as the organist at the CENTRAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH of Kansas City. I would like to find out who she was and who she was married to. I am related to many ELLIOTT's and also to NANCY BEGGS, who was influential in getting the Congregational Church built in Geneva NE. My line of ELLIOTTS and BEGGS are related. Any leads or connections to the Central Presbyterian Church of Kansas City would be much appreciated. Sue Kleinschmidt

    3. Hi, I'm not saying that that the Edward B. that Gregory sent you is your Edward, however, you might keep it on the burner and not discount it. The WWI draft registration doesn't mean he was in the war, it was merely registration. Also, the name 'Nannie' could be a nickname unrelated to the real name. Or Edward's first wife could have died and he remarried. Or 'Frannie'(from Francis) became 'Nannie'. A Justice of the Peace position usually wasn't the only job that someone in a small town performed. It was in addition to a regular job. Sometimes it was a job performed after retirement from a regular job. Here is the list of Edward B.'s children, from the 1930 US Census. He is still an asbestos worker. That will definitely confirm his age, place of residence in 1951, parent's names, place of birth. It is also a primary source document. I also found his WWI draft registration. He wrote his name as Edward B Brown. Wife is Francis. date of birth is April 30, 1878. Medium height, Slender build, Black eyes, black brown hair. They are living in Kansas City, KS but he works in KC, MO in an asbestos factory. Is the man you are looking for?

    3. Hi, If you continue to get no response for a look-up, it's probably because you have such a broad year range of papers to search. I suggest that you either contact the Wyandotte County Court house for a death certificate or look in the Yellow Pages for cemeterires around Kansas City, KS, and call until you find where he is buried. I believe that Muncie is now a part of Kansas City, KS. The Wyandotte County Museum might be able to tell you where someone in Muncie is most apt to be buried or offer other suggestions. You might also ask if they would be willing to do a look-up. http://www.wycokck.org/gen/wyco_generated_pages/Historical_Museum_m386.html Good luck, Patricia On 12 Nov 2006 10:24:33 -0700, cbrown@rocketsoftware.com < cbrown@rocketsoftware.com> wrote: > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: BROWN > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HAB.2ACI/880 > > Message Board Post: > > Hello, > > Is there someone in the group that would be willing to look up an obituray > or death notice in the KCKS papers, or Muncie papers for Edward 0 Brown.
