The Mid-Continent Library in Independence, MO does have volunteers that will look up information. I have used them a couple of times and have been very pleased with there service. The Kansas City Star is actually the Kansas City, Missouri newspaper, which at one time was printed in the morning and the evening; the Star was the evening edition; the Kansas City Times was the morning edition. They combined quite some number of years ago, into the Star. Now if he lived in Muncie, it's possible you want the Kansas City Kansan, which is the local Kansas City, Kansas newspaper. Muncie is part of KCK. Many times the obituaries were printed in both papers. I don't know if they have volunteers that will look up information or not, but the Mid-Continent Library in Independence, MO has alphabetical notebooks with obituaries back quite some number of years. It seems there's lots of people on here that have access to obituaries somehow, so I'm sure you'll get the information you're seeking shortly. The public libraries both have archives and websites and you can request a look-up online.

There are a couple of things, in a case like this that I suggest. First is to consider that William may have died and Stella remarried. There are also people who moved a lot and fell under the census radar. Your best bet may be to get obituaries for the parents, if you have not. You might try either requesting an obit look-up on the county listserve or board where they died. Sometimes the local library will do a look-up for you. There may be a minor charge. Obituaries that were posted in small town papers tend to be especially rich in detail. They should list all the children, their names, and where they are currently living. Big city newspapers can sometimes be disappointing in the amount of info they offer. If that doesn't work, then I suggest that you try each sibling's obit, beginning with the earliest death. I would also go after more info on William, if possible, and see if you can get a feel for where his people were and where they moved. Good luck.

(Saw this on another list. ) Ancestry.com has extended the free search of the Immigration Records through the end of December, so you have another month to check out the collection and find some of those lost ancestors. This is one of those really free no credit card promotions (not like a free trial). You just need to give them your name and email (and no credit card) and you can start searching the entire immigration collection. Here's a link to the promotion and more details. http://www.shipspassengers.com ________________________________________________________________________
