Thanks! John Hoping someone may be able to help me with a look-up? I'm looking for Evelyn (Evaline) and George Lindel. Eveline is living in Delaware, Leavenworth Co. in 1920 and widowed. I found a surname index for Lindel showing Glenwood cemetery. I'm hoping someone might be able to tell me if she or George are there and the details that would show. Thanks for any help! John B. If you contact Joel Thornton, the Archivist at the Wyandotte County Museum, they have the original ledger books. They have volunteers that look up information as they have time available and they would probably mail or email the ledger sheet to you that shows who else is buried in that section. Contact Joel at 913-721-1078, by FAX at 913-721-1394 or by E-Mail at jthornton@wycokck.org. Hope this helps. Melissa Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: GenealogistGirl Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.wyandotte/1450.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I did a Google on Willard J. Breidenthal and it seems he was quite a prominent Kansas City, Kansan. There are a lot of hits on him, including the information that there is a foundation in the name of him and his wife and there are 355 pages of his papers at the Kansas State Historical Society in Topeka. You are correct, that reports him dead in 1960. I would think that either the Foundation or the KSHS (http://www.kshs.org/) might be able to help you with his death date. Otherwise, you can check out the resources I posted for another of your people on KS cemeteries and libraries and death certificates at the Wyandotte County Courthouse. A word of caution. Some Kansas City, KS, residents opted to be buried in Kansas City, Jackson, MO cemeteries since the cities are next to one another. Author: GenealogistGirl Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.wyandotte/1449.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Eugene Daniels lived in Piper at least twenty years after my relatives, and this can be a tough one, because he may be buried near Piper or in one of the larger cemeteries in either Kansas City, KS, or Bonner Springs, KS. Both Wyandotte County These are the cemeteries closest to Piper: 1. Maywood Cemetery, 112th and Parallel, Kansas City, KS (on Maywood Church property and you would have to call the church for info); 2. Connors City Cemetery, a/k/a Wolcott, located on Hutton Road about 99th Street in Wolcott area; 3. Pleasant Ridge, a/k/a Douglas and Winters Cemetery, on Leavenworth Road between 99th and Hutton Road.(there is a book for this one, and it has an index online here: http://www.wycokck.org/gen/wyco_generated_pages/Trowbridge_Research_Library_m1019.html 4. Whitechurch Cemetery was also close, but I don't see his name in the online listing. http://www.interment.net/data/us/ks/wyandotte/white_church/index.htm 5. I am thinking there's also a Catholic churchyard. The libraries would know about that, if your people were Catholic. See all Wyandotte county cemeteries and info here: http://www.rootsweb.com/~kscemete/wyandotte/wyandotte.htm In the info for all Wyandotte county cemeteries, is the library info for help. In the info for Pleasant Ridge is the info for the Wyandotte County Museum that also might help you. A WORD OF WARNING. Piper is very close to Leavenworth county and some people were buried there. Mount Muncie Cemetery and others. I have had excellent luck in finding long and detailed obituaries for Piper residents in The Bonner Springs Chieftain. There are microfilm copies in the Wyandotte county museum and at the Bonner Springs, KS, public library. They do also have a very limited obituary database there. The Wyandotte County Museum also has books for wills, but I'm not sure if that is for the newer wills. And, lastly, there is always the Wyandotte County Courthouse for death records. I don't know if they will do a look-up if they have no specific date. Good luck Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: GenealogistGrrl Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.wyandotte/1447.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: As frustrating as it may be, I don't know that its that unusual for some families to miss a couple of Federal censuses. Especially if they were moving or didn't own land. Have you tried the 1875 KS State census? http://www.kshs.org/genealogists/census/kansas/census1875ks.htm#contents It would also be worth contacting the Kansas City, KS, Main Downtown public library to see what resources they may have. www.kckpl.lib.ks.us/KSCOLL/kscoll2.htm And the Wyandotte county museum. http://www.wycokck.org/gen/wyco_generated_pages/Trowbridge_Research_Library_m1019.html I know that Leavenworth, KS, had city directories as early as the 1860s. I don't know about the Rosedale district of KCK, but city directories can be helpful. Henry and his wife could have been separated in 1910, which means you should look for him separately. Or he could have been working elsewhere, in a hospital, or in prison. Sometimes, if two elderly parents were in bad health, the children would split them so as to make care easier. Institutional censuses are sometimes separate. I don't know if search engines like Ancestry include them. The only other thing that I can suggest is to visit the Wyandotte County Courthouse in downtown KCK, where they have some very old land records on microfilm. It means you have to go through each, searching for a possible deed, but it can sometimes be helpful. So can wills. You mention people in KY. A will there can place the inheritors. There's almost always a place or address listed for the person. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
