The Washington Republican Washington County Friday March 1, 1901 Sunday, Feb. 17, at Vining, occurred the death of Eugene MERREL, the eldest son of Mrs. MERREL, of this place. Mr. MERREL had been sick for several weeks and accidently broke his limb above the knee, the physician found it a bad break and an amputation of the limb was found to be necessary which was performed Feb. 12. Mr. MERREL never rallied from the shock. He leaves a wife and five small children, an aged mother, one brother and six sisters and hosts of friends to mourn his death. He was well known here as he was raised at this place. In the loss of her son, Mrs. MERREL has the sympathy of the entire community.
