The Washington Repubican Washington County Friday May 15, 1896 Ed. and Wilbur VINCENT who left here Wednesday May 6, on bicycles for southwest Kansas, pulled into Great Bend Friday evening, a distance of 200 miles, and all that way against a heavy wind. At that place the rains commenced, and Ed. wrote home he was glad of it, for the other 55 miles of their journey to Hanson they enjoyed a little ride on the train. If they had row boats instead of bicycles, they would be in the swim.
