The Washington Republican Washington County Friday April 16, 1897 A nine year old girl of Frank MARTIN in Barnes was killed last Friday evening. She was riding in a cart with her mother and another small child when the horse became frightened, upset the cart and ran away. All but the little girl were thrown out and uninjured, but she caught her foot in the cart in such a way that she was dragged about 40 rods, her head downward striking the ground. When she broke away form the cart she breathed but a few times.
