Related families are: Carpenter, Benham, Lamar, Street, Singleton, Boettcher, Huffman, Hannah and more. Not all the info is online yet. Please email me if you have more to add. Karen Brief info on my family: Joshua Brazzle, Jr.(born 1842 in Greene Co, IN) married Sarah Jane Gano and when she died, he married her sister, Rachel Gano-- daughters of Robert Gano and Phebe Newland Gano. Joshua's children are: Robert, John, Mary Ann, Susan, Rhodabell, Liza, Phoebe, Sara, Elizabeth, William, Fanny, Rosetta, Rosanna, Marg, and Phillip. He lived near Hollenberg, KS from about 1880 . His father's name was Joshua Brazzle, Sr. He died in Harrison Co, Missouri in 1858. Mother's name was Nancy Quillen Brazzle. Joshua Brazzle, Sr. parents are believed to be William and Sarah Brazzle from Greene Co. Indiana, but I haven't been able to prove this. Also, Joshua Sr. brothers are believed to be: Joseph, Samuel and William. Anyone out there researching these Brazzle's? Other spellings thru the years are: Brazil, Brassel, Brassle, Brazle, etc. Thanks, Karen

    2. Sharon A Foree
    3. Does anyone know of a genealogist I could hire to look at the naturalization records in the Washington County District Courthouse, in Washington, Kansas? I have written to the courthouse and they did not find records for John A. Carlson. However, they sent a list of the ten Carlsons on the index, with volume and page, but no date. Several names are similar enough to be checked, but by someone on site, not by mail. I will send details and am willing to pay. Thanks, Sharon Foree S_Foree@prodigy.net

If anyone can help me at all, I would truly appreciate it! Janet in MN janetg@lcp2.net

All Researchers. The "Research Outline" is available for every state and some countries from the Family History Library, Salt Lake City, Utah. You can download ALL of them at the LDS website at: www.familysearch.org. There is about 80 pages of them. I suggest printing all of them out in hard copy. On 1/1/2000, www.dear Myrtle.com suggested copying these would be your FIRST priority. The Research Outline for North Carolina contains 11 pages of information to be used when you don't know where/whom to contact regarding your ancestors. Info on Archives & Libraries, Bible Records, Biographies, Cemeteries, Census, Church Records, City Directories, Emigration and Immigration, Gazetteers, Genealogy, History, Land and Property*** (Land Grants), i.e., Crown Colony grants 1735-1775; Pre-Statehood and Statehood Grants 1778-1959; County Records, Maps, Military Records including Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Civil War and other Wars. Native Races, Naturalization and Citizenship, Newspapers, Periodicals, Taxation, Vital Records, and more! Re: Proprietary Colony Grants 1663-1729: In 1663 Charles II granted land in the Carolinas to eight of his followers, called Lords Proprietors of Carolina. These men had the right to grant their land to others. One of the proprietors was the Governor of Virginia and he issued many land grants in 1663. Records of only 29 of these are known to exist and have been abstracted in Nell Marion Nugent, "Cavaliers and Pioneers" Virginia Land Patents and Grants,s 1623-1732, 3 vols. (Richmond, VA: Dietz Printing Co., 1963, Family History BOOK 975.5 R2N (A film/copy of the book can be ordered through your local Family History Center which will be in the building of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, nicknamed The Mormons. Note: In November 1777, a North Carolina law created a land office in every county to grant land previously held by the Crown and by Earl Granville. records of most of these offices have been indexed and sent to the state office in Raleigh. The Family History Library has microfilm copies of most of these records and indexes. North Carolina also granted land in Tennessee for service in the Revolutionary War. The original records are at the Tennessee State Library and Archives. (In Nashville). The Family History Library has copies of the following records: *Revolutionary Warrants, 1783-1837 (FHL films 1,013,361-75). *Tennessee land grants,s 1788-1810. (FHL films 1,013,300-22; separate index.) I've copied this data from the LDS NCResearch Outline, in part only, for your information and so that you can see the extensive materials they have to offer us. Dot

The inscriptions, aerial phoptograps, and maps are incomplete for the county. This is the first non trivial web page with hyperlink enabled tombstone inscriptions that I know of. Jo Rippe said that two ladies in the 70's made a set of cemetery records for Washington County. The historical society does not have them in a readily accessible form by a method such as typed or optical character recognition. She said that the Ft. Hays University Library also received a set of the cemetery records. John W. George, Ward Funeral Home, tigers@wahingtonks.net, told me that the tombstone inscriptions for all the cemeteries in Washington County were recorded somewhere but did not know where. There are Washington City Library books listed at http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/washingt/directory.html , "WASHINGTON COUNTY CEMETERIES--INDEX OF NAMES and the books that go with them" and "SOLDIERS IN WASHINGTON CO CEMETERIES TO 1938 hand typed". As soon as someone tells me how to reference the recording of all of the other tombstone inscriptions in the county I will do so.
