    1. Bond/Turner
    2. Jill Talley
    3. I am looking for information on the two surnames "Bond" and "Turner". My father was Theodore Givens Bond (birthdate 5-1-06) and born to Allen Wellington and Della Elvisa Bond. I believe that they lived in an area named "Bondville" near Washington, Kansas. My mother's name was Grace M. Turner (birthdate 6-11-14)and born to Silas and Anna Turner in Washington, Kansas. Silas was the High School custodian there for many years and won the hearts of teachers and students. At retirement they awarded him the Key to the school, which I have framed and hanging on my wall. If anyone has any info...as I was born late in my parent's lives and so many of my relatives preceded even my parent's in death, I would greatly appreciate it. Thankyou! Sincerely, Jill Talley, Canby, OregonGet more from the Web. FREE MSN Explorer download : http://explorer.msn.com

    1. Callender, Slover, Myers
    2. I seem to be making some headway. My Andrew Jackson married Caroline Slover. Her brother was Levi and sister was Martha. Martha married Charles Tilbury Callender. They had William, Emma, Mary, Alpharetta, Charles and Harriet. I see where there is now, in Hanover, a Charles Callender listed in the phone book.....possibly a grandson of Martha slover and Charles Tilbury Callender. Then Harriet married Earl Oswald and they lived, I believe, in Hanover. There are some Oswald's now living in Hanover, wonder if they are descendants of Harriet and Earl. Any information deeply appreciated. Thanks, Penny

    1. Henry "Doc" Ochiltree
    2. J.C. Richards
    3. Is anyone familiar with Henry Ochiltree, a physician in Haddam, Kansas? I found his photo, labeled "Doc Ochiltree", among some old family pictures and assume he was the family doctor. I've also ran across him while searching census records for Haddam, his occupation is listed as "physician". I would like to know if he kept records of his patients and if anyone out there has them or knows where they can be found, if they even exist. Any little bit of information is appreciated. Thank you. 1. JONES & BRICK in HADDAM
    2. Looking for any information regarding Vivian Jones who I believe lived in the same block as the Methodist Church in Haddam. Her husband's name may have been "Bud" (is that his legal name?). Vivian's maiden name was Brick, with her parents being Frank Brick and Annabelle Myers. The only date I have is that Annabelle was born in 1869. Another reason for finding this family is that I believe that children of Vivian Brick Jones have the Myers family Bible, therefore, wanting the names of her children and how I can locate them. Greatful for any tips. Thank you, Penny from Nebraska

    1. Myers, Slover, Harvey in Haddam
    2. George and Sarah Myers, their son Andrew Jackson Myers, their daughter Mary E. Myers......all came to Haddam in 1859 from Carroll County, Illinois. They lived on their homestead (located in the same block as today's Methodist Church) for many years and then donated the land to the church and moved out north of town. Mary E. Myers married William Stephenson and they moved on to Muncie, Kansas (near KC) and took George and Sarah with them. Andrew and his wife Caroline Slover had the following children: Mary, Joseph, Annabelle, Charles, Andrew, Frank, Henry, Milford, Viola and Ellsworth. Caroline's, wife of Andrew and mother to these children, maiden name was Slover. I know her brother lived in or near Haddam, Levi. And Levi had two sons who lived out their lives in Haddam, Walter and Harvey. Caroline also had a sister named Martha Slover who married Charles Callender. I hope these names ring a bell with someone. I do have some information on these families I would be glad to share. My grandmother's parents were Mary (daughter of Andrew and Caroline). This Mary married James Harvey, son of Michael Harvey of Haddam. Grandmother married a fella from Republic County, Tarlington Carpenter. Thanks for reading this. Penny in Nebraska

    1. Francis L. Pickerell; death records & obits
    2. Rich Kurlich
    3. Hi Everyone, I'm new to research in Washington Co., KS and I would greatly appreciate any help or advice anyone might have on how to locate a death date and/or record or an obit. for Francis L Pickerell (aka Frances L. Pickerel, Pickrell). She was alive on 13 Dec. 1906, age 69, in Washington, Wash. Co., KS. She was the widow of Eli C. Pickerell, who died May 5, 1900 in Washington, KS. It is possible that she was living with one of her children by a first marriage to Merrit Smith Sr. (aka Merit Smith). Her son George E. Smith appears to have been living in Washington, KS in 1906. Could someone please tell me: 1. Are there cemetery inscription books for Washington and/or Wash. Co. that someone could please check for my family: 2. Where do I write for death certificates? Hopefully, the court house will search a little bit. 3. Do any local newspaper still exist in which I might find her obit once I know a date? Thank you very, very much. richkurlich@hotmail.com _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

    3. I am new to this list. Could someone tell me if there is a Historical Museum in Coffeyville, KS I could call to see if there are records on my ancestors? Also was there a home for the blind in the area. My great aunt was said to be blind. I can not find her on a census with the family in 1900 in Oklahoma Territory and thought possibly she was in a home for the blind in the Washington Co. area. This would have been in the 1880's. Looking for: Jesse Lucas-my great grandmother's first husband Samantha Augusta Bayne Lucas Terrill-my great grandmother Oliver Perry Bayne-my great great grandfather Isabelle Bayne-my great aunt Thank you for any tips you may have. 1. Jesse Lucas - Samantha Augusta Bayne
    2. Rochelle
    3. My great grandmother Samantha Augusta Bayne was married to Jesse Lucas in Coffeyville, KS about 1885. I base the date strictly on the birth of their first child Harvey Lucas in 1886 in Indian Territory. There was also a daughter Katie. Samantha's entire family may have been living in Coffeyville at that time. I know her brother Adolphus was buried in Stokes Cemetery in Dewey, IT in 1881. Her father was Oliver Perry Bayne, mother Mahala Hanlin Bayne, brother Robert Henry Bayne, sister's Lovina and Isabelle. I would appreciate any information on the Lucas or Bayne families. Thank you so much, Rochelle in the Sierra Foothills

The Washington County inscription situation is discussed at http://www.issi1.com/corwin/genealogy/inscriptions.txt . 3. Merry Christmas everyone. I am looking for information regarding my great grandfather, JOHN D. or JOHN N. SHEPARD. He was born in Spurgeon IN about 1874 and was a schoolteacher in that area before coming to Kansas in the early part of the 20th Century. He may have been elected to the Kansas Legislature (from Greenleaf) in 1908 or thereabouts. His wife was CORA DELL MASON born in Oakland City IN. They had two surviving sons, CARL MASON SHEPARD and FLOYD DAVID SHEPARD. Their father, JOHN SHEPARD died about the age of 40 to 44. He had Huntington's Disease. Cora remarried ADEN WICKHAM of Norton County around 1924. I am wondering if anyone is willing to do lookups for me there. I am specifically looking for JOHN SHEPARD'S date of death and his burial place, as well as any imformation I can find concerning his state of health up til his death. I'd also like to confirm if my greatgrandfather is the same fellow who served in the Legislature, and what his occupation was. If you have any information please contact me via this list, or email me at: dennybop2@home.com. Thankyou so much Dennis White
