Hi, I am researching my Shild/Shield and Boettcher families from Washington Co.- Hanover area. In particular Frederick and Johanne Catherine Shield and William and Johanna Shield Boettcher. Anyone else researching these line! Fredrick Shild was born about 1834 in Germany and he and his wife Johanne C. came to America on the ship 'Herman' in 1882. The children that immigrated with them were: Martha, Fred, Jr., Hugo, George, Otto. After arriving in Kansas they had two more daughters. Their oldest daughter was Johanna Shield and she came over to America about 2 months before they did on the ship 'Neckar'. Johanna is my great grandmother and she married William Henry Boettcher. I am trying to find the date of death of Fredrick Shield. All these lived around Hanover Kansas so Fredrick would havre died there sometime after 1895. Thanks for any help, Karen _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp.

Hello, My name is Jonathan Loppnow. I am researching my ancestor Eli Lewis, who lived at Greenleaf in the late 1800's. I have narrowed his death down to 1910-1915. I was wondering if anyone could advise me of how to proceed. I can't find him in the cemeteries there. Is there a mortality census for those years or a funeral home that would likely have been used? Thanks for any advice. Sincerely, Jonathan Loppnow

Does anyone out there know if St Mary's Church/Cemetery is still active, or at least the cemetery still in existence? Any transcriptions available? Exactly where? I am looking for the date of my gg grandmother's death, Mary Emma BAKER LARKAN. It was about 1915, Her husband, Arthur A Larkan, died 26 Nov 1923, and his daughter, Elizabeth "Bess" LARKAN ELLIS died 7 Jan 1924. Both are buried there... Supposedly Arthur LARKAN donated some land to the church, probably prior to his wifes death... Hi All, I'm new to this list and I recently encountered the "Souvenir from the Cole School" posted on the Washington County Link Pages. Could anyone enlighten me as to where this school was/is and any other information that might be available? It is very possible that the COX children listed could be some of my ancestors. My great grandfather (Thomas Cox) moved to Kansas from England via Canada in 1868. He raised a very large family there after settling in Lincoln Township. He died in 1900 in Greenleaf. I had no knowledge of any of this until recently since my grandfather left Kansas shortly after arriving and went back to Canada losing all ties with Kansas side of the family. Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Cheers, Frank Cox in Tucson

Looking for more information regarding William Dunnuck (not sure of spelling) who married Mary Isabel Callender in 1884 in Washington Co., KS. She was born in 1866 and died in 1890 at a young 24 years. Someone has suggested that he may have remarried an Ella Chipman. Mary Isabel Callender's sister, Harriet, married Earl Oswald in 1892 in Marysville, Kansas. She was born in 1872. I think Earl Oswald was born in 1869 and died in 1946. There are still Callender's living in Hanover, KS. Wondering if these sisters are a part of the Hanover Callender's. The father of these sisters was Charles Tidbury Callender and Martha Slover. Their other children were William, Emma, Alpharetta, and Charles Walter. I see where there is a Charles Callender in the Soc. Sec. data base who was born in 1911 in Hanover and died there in 1995. Again, wonder if he is the son of Charles Walter and grandson of Charles Tidbury Callender. Thank you Penny from Nebraska
