The Washington Republican Friday November 23, 1900 Throop. Geo. CAMPBELL contemplates leaving in a few days for a visit to his old home in Wisconsin. We hope he will have a pleasant visit. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Harve FRASIER, Nov. 9th, a son. Misses Ida and Cora WOLF, of Washington, and Mr. BENTLEY of Narka were guests of Miss Nellie PRUITT last Friday night. Mr. and Mrs. L.C. McCORMICK and Mr. and Mrs. O.P. STEELE drove down near Ruscoe to the home of A.WOLF, to help celebrate that gentleman's birthday. This was a surprise to him which he greatly enjoyed. Mr. WOLF was born in Green county, Ohio, Nov. 17, 1817. He came to Iowa in 1840; he and his wife lived in Henry county, at Prairie Gem 40 years, and came to Kansas 11 years ago. There were at this gathering of Mr. WOLF's children one son and his wife who live near Narka, and four daughters and their husbands who live in Washington county, two married granddaughters and their husbands, twenty-one grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; there were also a number of friends present and some from quite a distance. Mr. WOLF and his wife have traveled married life together for 57 years and is said to be the oldest married couple in Brantford township. They have two sons and 5 daughters living, have 49 grandhchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Mr. WOLF received many nice and useful! presents as tokens of respect in remembrance of this day. When evening came and the farewells were spoken we heard the remark, "we wish your birthday came thrice a year."

The Washington Republican Washington County Friday November 23, 1900 Washington Township Debt. This township owes a debt of $26,000, a railroad bond, and the debt is drawing 10 per cent interest. These bonds will be due in about six years and when due the interest and principal will amount to $46,000. The present tax levy raises about $4,000 each year and leaves about $1,400 in sinking fund each year. Judge FOOTE, of Topeka, who was one of Webb McNALL's road agents was here Tuesday and made the township board a proposition. He represents some New York Bond company and they are anxious to do business in Kansas. He offers to refund the bonds so they will draw but 5 per cent interest, but wants $8,400 to compromise the old bonds and get them released. The new bonds can be paid off at the rate of $3,000 annually and by the transaction the township can save about $3,000 on the whole deal if Judge Foote's proposition holds goods. The old township board did not care to start negotiations at this time, but the matter will be taken up when the new board takes hold of matters after January 1st.

The Washington Republican Washington County Friday November 16, 1900 Seward, Okla., Nov. 10, 1900. After eight days of suffering with that dread disease diphtheria, Freddie WEIDENHEIMER closed his eyes in death Thursday morning, Nov. the 8th, aged ten years, ten months and seventeen days. His father, F.A. Weidenheimer, reached his bedside on Wednesday morning in response to a telegram sent Tuesday morning; he was so glad to see his papa. He was conscious most all the time during his illness and was patient, bearing his suffering with great fortitude for one of his tender age. When the final summons came he slept and when he awoke he was with his beloved mamma and little sisters in the home beyond. We miss the smiling face for his presence was like a ray of sunshine and we wonder why he was taken, then we remember our Savior said, "Of such is the kingdom of Heaven." Mrs. J.A. THOMAS.

The groom looked handome in the conventional black and William, of Atchison, brother of the groom served as best man. After the ceremony the wedding party returned to the bride's home where a boutiful repast was spread. Friends and relatives joined them in helping them to make the day long remembered. The bride is a popular young young lady with hosts of admiring friends and the groom is one of Farmington township's successful and worthy farmers. Their many friends and relatives join in wishing them a happy and successful life. Mr. and Mrs. Flaherty received many and costly presents. The young folks have gone to housekeeping in their home north of Washington.
