The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday January 9,1966 Emerson Smith Is Dead at 49. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Methodist Church for Emerson R. SMITH, 49, 704 Saline, who died Saturday in a Topeka hospital. He had suffered a massive cerebral hemorhage Wednesday at a Topeka bowling alley. He was a representative of State Farm Mutual Insurance Company in Topeka since 1952. He was born Oct. 28, 1916 at Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a member of First Methodist Church where he was active in work with youth. He was a past district governor of the Y's Men's Club of the YMCA. He was graduated from Alma College at Alma, Mich., in 1938 and was employed by the communications department at Forbes Air Force Base. He was a member of the National Life Underwriters Assn. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth L. Smith, of the home; two sons, Alan Smith and David Eugene Smith, both of the home; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Smith, of the home; and two sisters, Mrs. Harry GALVIN, Newport Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Elizabeth KELLER, Wayne, Mich. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the International Friendship Fund of the Y's Men's Club of the YMCA. Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
