The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday January 9, 1966 Marie McElhaney. Service arrangements are pending at Davidson-Eslinger-Duff Funeral Home for Mrs. V. Marie McELHANEY, 28, who died Saturday at her home, 1527 N. Madison. Dr. J.L.Lattimore, district coroner, who performed an autopsy, said Mrs. McElhaney had suffered from an injury in an accident while playing baseball when she was 12 years old. He said she died of asphyxia shortly after she became ill before dawn Saturday. She was born March 29, 1937 at Valley Falls and had lived in Topeka 25 years. She attended North Topeka Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Ernest McElhaney, of the home; three daughters, Rita McElhaney, Idan McElhaney and Darlene McElhaney, all of the home; a son, David McElhaney at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Freeman ABEL, 1019 N. Quincy; three sisters, Karen ABEL and Mrs. Darlene FISHER, both of 1019 N. Quincy, and Mrs. Mary PORTER, Charleston, S.C.; a borther, Freeman L. ABEL, 188 Holman.
