The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday January 9, 1966 Harry Bowen Sr. Dies Here at 88. Harry J. BOWEN, Sr., 88, died Saturday at the Methodist Home, 1135 College, where he had lived the past 10 years. Earlier he lived at 823 W. 10th. He was born April 5, 1877 in Topeka and spent most of his life in Topeka. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was associated with W.A.L. Thompson Hardware Company in Topeka and later was instrumental in founding Bowen-Nuss Hardware Company in Topeka. He retired in 1938. His wife, Mrs. Helen Walker Bowen, died in 1937. Two sons also preceded him in death. Survivors include three sons, Dr. Harry J. Bowen, Jr., 1900 Pembroke Lane, Dr. Clovis W. Bowen, 2420 W. 36th, and Frank Bowen, Detroit, Mich.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Topeka Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Presbyterian Manor.
