The Topeka Daily State Journal Tuesday April 30, 1918 Miss Viets To Quit. Special Assistant In Knapp's Office Resigns Position. Beginning Wednesday morning, a number of changes will be effective in the office force of Fred W. KNAPP, state auditor. The changes were announced today when it became known that Miss Emma VIETS, special assistant auditor, would resign to enter the offices of the Kansas Life Insurance company in Topeka at an increased salary. The position formerly filled by Miss Viets will be give to Miss Mayme CONROY, of Beloit, at present chief clerk. Mrs. Bertha WETHERTON, of Topeka, now assistant chief clerk, will be advanced to chief clerk and Miss Lena SCHOENFELD of Topeka, a stenographer in the office, will be made assistant chief clerk. Miss Pearl HARRISON of Scranton, will succeed Miss SCHOENFELD as stenographer.
