The Topeka Daily Capital February 7, 1952 Mrs. W.M. CROSBY, Dies at Age of 83. Mrs. Flora Mayo CROSBY, 83, former president of the Warren M. Crosby Dry Goods Co., died Wednesday morning in her home, 1555 Stratford. Mrs. Crosby was born July 30, 1868, in Brimfield, Ill., and had been a resident of Topeka more than 60 years. Her husband, the late Warren M. Crosby, owned and operated one of the city's leading dry goods stores on the present site of the Montgomery-Ward store. After his death, Mrs. Crosby was head of the store until it was liquidated in 1932. Her son, Warren M. Crosby, Jr., afterward opened a store at 611 Kansas Aveune. She was a member of the First Congregational Church and was a generous contributor to various civic and charitable enterprises in Topeka. She took an active interest in the plans for building the Hotel Jayhawk and the Grand Theater. She was member of the Chaldean Club and the Daughters of Founders and Patriarchs of America. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Charles B. Crosby, Jr., Topeka; two sons, Thomas M. and Warren M. Crosby, Jr., both of Topeka, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Congreagational Church with burial in Topeka Cemetery. The family requests that no flowers be sent.
