The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday November 11, 1951 Melvin Manning. Melvin M. MANNING, 78, died Saturday at the home of his son, Earl Manning, 1501 Boston. Mr. Manning was born August, 31, 1873, in Henry County, Indiana, and had been a resident of Topeka for 35 years. He was married to Miss Carrie L. IJAMS in 1897. She died in 1918. He operated grocery stores at a number of locations in Topeka and in Arrington until his retirement in 1947. Since then he had made his home with his son in Topeka and with a daughter, Mrs. Mildred GREENWOOD, in Bremerton, Wash. In addition to his son and daughter, Mr. Mannning is survived by six grandchildren and a great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Rosa JAMES of Rogers, Ark., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
