The Topeka Daily Capital Tuesday May 2, 1961 L. McEachron, Social Welfare Official Dies. Services will be announced for Lendrum Scott McEarchron, 56, asistant director of the State Department of Social Welfare. He died of a heart attack Monday at his home, 1615 Boswell. He had been assistant director of the Welfare Department since 1949. Prior to that he was director of finance, accounts and audits from the inception of the department in 1937. Born June 1, 1904, in Topeka, he lived here his entire life. His father, Duncan L. McEachron, was vice president and treasurer of Wasburn Univesity. His mother Mrs. Ella Scott McEachron, a member of more than 20 years of the Topeka Board of Education. the McEachron Elementary School was named for her. He served with the Kansas Emergency Relief Commission from February 1934 until August 1937. He was a member of the Central Congregational Church and Kappa Sigma social fraternity. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Alice T. McEarchron at home; a son, Scott McEarchron, 1285 Medford; a daughter, Mrs. Alan LOMAX, of Germany, where her husband is stationed with the Air Force; a sister, mrs. Forbes CALDWELL, 1234 Western; a brother, J.D. McEachron of Haworth, N.J.; and four grandchildren. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
