The Topeka Daily Capital Monday February 6, 1961 W. Ernest Hitchens. William Ernest HITCHENS, 77, 308 E. Paramore, died Sunday at his home. He was born Jan. 4, 1884, in Coffey County and had lived in Topeka since 1941. He was a member of Topeka Bible Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Aetna Hitchens of the home; three sons, John Hitchens, 1100 E. 23rd; Lloyd Hitchens, 2727 Burlingame Road, and William Hitchens of Anticoh, Calif.; five daughters, Mrs. Mack SHOEMAKER, 3383 Irvingham, Mrs. Jess WESTERDALE, 2631 Fillmore, Mrs. Ted SLACK, 1419 Clontarf, Mrs. Lloyd ROBERTS of Waynesville, Mo., and Mrs. Merle KINDRED of Bakersfield, Calif.; two brothers, Jess Hitchens of Martinsburg, Iowa and John Hitchens, 169 Evelyn; four sisters, Mrs. Myrtle BARTLETT of Waverly, Mrs. Maude TODD of San Francisco, Mrs. Iva TODD of Gridley and Mrs. Hazel HARROLD of Kansas City, Kan.; and 23 grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Davidson-Eslinger-Duff Funeral Home with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.
