The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday December 3, 1960 Rites Pending For Retired Dentist Here. Dr. John A. STEINMEYER, 89, 1269 Clay, a dentist 50 years before retirement due to ill health, died at his home Friday. He had been in ill health about 15 years. He was born Feb. 28, 1871, in Alma and attended the public schools there. He was graduated from Western Dental College at Kansas City in 1896 and moved to St. Marys where he practiced for 14 years. He moved to Topeka in 1910. he was a member of Topeka Lodge No. 17 of AF &AM, Knights Templar bodies of Topeka, Scottish Rite bodies of Topeka; a charter member of Arab Shrine, past potentate of Abdallah Temple of Leavenworth, a member of the Roayl Order of Jesters, active work for crippled children, a member of the BPOE No 204 of Topeka, and Beulah Chapter No 34 of the Order of Eastern Star. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Carre Weeks STEINMEYER of the home; a son Fred J. Steinmeyer, 1194 Plass; a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Steinmeyer HELM, 1335 Western; a brother, Henry Steinmeyer, 3015 Colorado; five granddaughters; and ten great-grandchildren. Services will be announced by Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
