The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday November 24, 1927 Wm. M. Jeffries Dead. Pioneer Helped Erect State House Dome and Santa Fe Shops. William M. JEFFRIES, 74, died last night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Milton Shutt, 1280 Lane. Mr. Jeffries is an old resident of Topeka, coming here in 1895. He was born in Illinois on June 9, 1853 and went to Gorham, Kan., in 1884. He was a contractor by trade and helped to erect the Santa Fe shops, the dome of the state house, and many other buildings of Topeka. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, The I.O.O.F. and the Rebekah lodge. He was a member of the United Brethren Chruch. Surviving him are his daughter, Mrs. Shutt, one sister, Mrs. Mark Stroller, Nevado, Mo., and nine grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
