    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday April 1, 1961 Bell Telephone Official Dies; Rites Pending. Services will be announced for William J. BRANDENBURG, 51, business office supervisor of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., who died at home Friday. He suffered a heart attack. Mr. Brandenburg was the husband of Mrs. Catharine Brandenburg, new director of radio station WREN, and the son-in-law of Mrs. Ada Montgomery, women's editor of the Daily Capital. He had returned a week ago from Florida following the death of his mother March 21. Born May 26, 1909, in Topeka, he moved to Massachusetts with his family, attended Wesleyan University of Middletown, Conn., and moved to Topeka in 1929 where he started wrok for the commerical department of Southwestern Bell. He was transferred to Kansas City in 1930 and worked various assignments there and in Kansas City, Kan., until he returned here in 1951. He attended Grace Cathedral. Survivors in addition to his widow, are a son, Willliam J. Brandenburg Jr., at home, 724 Merriam Ct.; and his father, Dr. J.S. Brandenburg of Eustis, Fla., a retired educator. Mr. Brandenburg was a grandson of a former chief justice of Supreme Court of Kansas, William A. Johnston. Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
