The Topeka Daily Capital Tuesday March 25, 1958 George Nichols, 81, Former Topekan, Dies. George A. NICHOLS, 81, a retired editor of Printers' Ink, advertising trade publication, died Monday in New York. He began his career in Topeka with Capper Newspapers, and at one time was telegraph editor of The Topeka Daily Capital. While in Topeka, he was one of the first reporters in the country to cover Carry A. Nation's hatchet crusade against the old-time saloons. Before his retirement as editor of Printers' Ink, he was also the Washington correspondent for that magazine. He was a native of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
