    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday February 3, 1952 Ancil J. West Dies; Former Kansas Banker. Word has been received in Topeka that Ancil J. West, Denver, Colo., formerly a bank examiner of Kansas and a brother of Herbert G. West, 1310 Collins, died Friday morning. He was born at Milo, Iowa, July 2, 1883 and came to Kansas 60 years ago, settling at Ottawa, where he was educated. He worked at the Republic State Bank of Republic Kan., and later bought an interest in the Belleville State Bank, becoming its cashier. He later sold his interest and went with the state banking department, becoming the deputy in charge of the Wichita district. He later bought the controlling interest of one of the banks of Alamosa, Colo., which he operated for some 30 years. He retired about four years ago and moved to Denver. He and his wife were on a tour of Mexico when he died of a heart attack in Mexico City. The body will be sent to Topeka. There will be a short service for the family at the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary. Dr. Orlo Choguill of the First Presbyterian Church will be in charge. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florence West, and a daughter, Jane of the home in Denver; a son Merrell A. West, Alamosa, Colo.; a and a brother, Herbert, of 1310 Collins.
