The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday October 6, 1951 Jess Skaggs. Jess SKAGGS, 59, of 216 North Lime, died Friday morning in a Topeka hospital. He was born August 18, 1892, in Topeka and resided here his entire life. He was a member of the American War Dads. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Shrene, Topeka; two sons, Jess Skaggs, Papillion, Neb.; and James Skaggs of the U.S. Navy; his mother, Mrs. Cynthia Debar, Topeka; two sisters, Mrs. Rachel Martin, Topeka and Mrs. Esther Hart, Barstow, Calif.; a niece, Mrs. Raymond Masey, Topeka, and 10 grandchildren. A private funeral will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home with burial in Bethel Cemetery. The family requests that no flowers be sent but that contributions be sent to the Shawnee Cancer Society.
