    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday August 31, 1961 James E. Lancaster. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Wall-Diffenderfer Chapel for James E. Lancaster, 89, 1817 W. 1st, who died in a Topeka hospital Wednesday after a short illness. He was born in Portsmouth, England, Oct. 7, 1871, and he and Mrs. Lancaster and their two children came to the United States in 1910. After living a few months in St. Marys, they moved to Topeka where he was employed with the Santa Fe Railway 32 years before his retirement in November 1943. Mr. Lancaster was a member of the First Baptist Church of Topeka. He and his wife, who died in June 1958, celebrated their 60 wedding anniversary March 21, 1958. Surviving are a son, Ernest Gordon Lancaster, 3122 Rochester Road; two daughters, Mrs. Chester P. STARBARD, of the home and Mrs. Harold G. BATES, 711 Lindenwood; four grandchildren; two great-grandsons. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery. The family suggests any contributions in memory of Mr. Lancaster be made to the Educational Fund of the First Baptist Church.
