The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday June 11, 1939 Harry "Swede" Simpson. Harry C. "Swede" SIMPSON, 46, employe of Santa Fe in the storehouse department for thirty years, died Saturday morning at his home, 846 Wabash Avenue, following an illness of several months. He was born November 4, 1892, in Topeka and had been a resident here his entire life. He was a member of Orient Lodge, No. 51, A.F. and A.M., and also a member of the Seward Avenue Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Jessie Simpson of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Claudine Claypool and Mrs. Helen Towler, both of Topeka; one son, Wayne Simpson of the home; one grandson, Billy Claypool, Topeka; his father, Ellsworth Simpson; his step-mother, Mrs. Rose Simpson; four sisters, Mrs. Esther Reynolds, Mrs. Ellen Lewis, Mrs. Laura Taylor and Mrs. Clara Hartzell, and one brother, Clarence "Punk" Simpson, all of Topeka. Funeral services will be Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary, with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the mortuary from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday.
