The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday May 3, 1951 John William Sams. John William SAMS, 77, a painter and interior decorator for 50 years, died Friday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Glenn M. WILSON, 205 Edgewood. He was born April 4, 1873, in Washington, Ky., and came to Kansas when he was 15 years old, settling in Tribune. He afterward made his home in Doniphan, Nemaha and Montgomery counties before moving to Topeka in 1931. He worked his trade until he retired in 1944. He was a member of the Central Park Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carolyn E. Sams; three daughters, Mrs. Henry BROWN, Mrs. Elmer SIMMONS and Mrs. WILSON, all of Topeka; three sons, Loy E. Sams, Yuba, Calif., Milton W. and Jack B. Sams, both of Topeka; six grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Inez BUTLER, Denver, Colo., and Mrs. E.B. CHAPMAN, Topeka.
