    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Tuesday March 7, 1961 Alice Ward Dies at Age 97; Rites Thursday. Mrs. Alice WARD, 97, a resident of Kansas 81 years, died Monday at her home 1611 Central Park. She fell and suffered a broken hip in November 1958 and had been an invalid since. Mrs. Ward was born June 28, 1863, at Todds Point, Ill., and came to Kansas with her parents in 1879. She was married in 1885 and lived on a farm north of Kiro until her husband, John WARD, died in 1914. She moved to Topeka in 1915. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Esther A. MILLER, 1305 E. 22nd., Mrs. Enid E. CARPENTER of Kutch, Colo., and Ethel Ward and Eunice Ward, both of the home; nine grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Ethel SCHOOLER of Jasper, Mo., and Mrs. Celia GARST of Pocatello, Idaho. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Penwell-Gabel Chapel with burial in Prairie Home Cemetery.
