The Topeka Daily Capital Tuesday July 18, 1936 Another Heat Death In Topeka. Calvin C. HAWKINS, 58, chef at Elmhurst Grill, died early this morning at his home, 1286 Lane Street, after suffering heat prostration Sunday night. Hawkins went home ill Sunday night, complaining of becoming too hot while working, and died shortly after he retired. Dr. H.A. Alexander, county coroner, said. This was the second death from the heat in Topeka this summer. He is survived by his wife, living at Goff, Kan. Funeral arrangements have not been made.
