The Topeka Daily Capital Monday January 7, 1952 Mrs. George Hughes. Mrs. George H. HUGHES, 89, widow of a former pastor of the Kansas Avenue Methodist Church, died January 4, at the home of her daughter, Miss Evelyn Hughes, in Alexandria, Va. Mrs. Hughes was born in Catasauqua, Pa., and was educated at Centernary Collegiate Institute at Hackettstown, N.Y. Her husband was pastor of the Kansas Avenue Methodist Church in Topeka from 1925 until his death in 1927. He also had charges at Clay Center and Council Grove and at St. Joseph, Mo.; Malvern, Corydon, Leon, Atlantic and Sioux City, Iowa; Mount Holly and Trenton, N.J. , and Brookville and Union, N.Y. Since his death, MRs. Hughes had been making her home with her daughter, who is an employee of the U.S. Department of Labor. Besides her daughter, she is survived by a son, Arthur F. Hughes, St. Louis, Mo.; a borther, Samuel FUNK, Bethlehem, Pa., and two granddaughters. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery.
