The Topeka Daily Capital Tuesday October 9, 1951 Byron Gomer Benard. Byron Gomer BENARD, former Topekan, died suddenly Monday afternoon in Shreveport, La. He was 47 years old. Mr. Benard was born May 23, 1904, in Topeka and spent his boyhood in Holton with an aunt, Mrs. Rachel JOHNSON. For many years he was a salesman for the Cudahy Packing Co., in Topeka. In 1937 he went to Louisana and up to the time of his death operated poultry plants in Shreveport, Monroe, and De Queen, Ark. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rose Benard, of the home in Shreveport; five sons, B.F., Robert, William, Richard, and Byron jr., all of Shreveport; a daughter, Mrs. John Lee SMITH, of El Dorado, Ark.; a sister, Mrs. John GARDINER of Topeka; and his aunt, Mrs. Johnson, who now lives in Topeka. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning in Shreveport.
