The Topeka Daily Capital Wednesday October 3, 1951 Edward Whalen. Edward WHALEN, 76, former Topekan, died Tuesday in the Veterans Hospital in Wadsworth. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War. He was born May 2, 1875, in Canton, Ky., and spent most of his life in Osage City. He operated a hot tamale stand at 10th and Topeka at one time. He is survived by a son, Earl E. Whalen, Topeka; a sisters, Mrs. Frances Reich, Argentine, Kan.; three brothers, Denny, Thomas, and Robert Whalen, Osage City and a stepbrother, Charles Link, Argentine. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Church in Osage City with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
