The Topeka Daily Capital Wednesday March 19, 1958 Harvey (Cal) Calkins. Harvey Allen (Cal) CALKINS, 66, widely known among service organizations in Kansas, died Tuesday in a Topeka hospital. He was born October 31, 1891, at Herington and served as a lieutenant in the 137th Infantry of the Thirty-Fifth Division during World War I. he formerly was in the veterans' division of the State Department of Social Welfare and later went to Washington, D.C., to engage in national rehabilitation work for the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He retired about three years ago. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and Chapter at Belleville in addition to veterans organizations. He was a director of the Republic Mutual Fire Insurance Co. of Kansas City. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Gretchen CALKINS, of the home, 1732 West Third; two daughters, Mrs. Mary L. KILMER and Mrs. Janice H. STECK, both of Monrovia, Calif.; two grandchildren; a sister, Miss Ethel Mae CALKINS, Abilene, and a brother, Glen L. CALKINS, Abilene.
