    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Tuesday November 22, 1927 Rev. W.I. Cole Is Dead. Topeka Pastor Had Been in the Ministry 42 Years. The Rev. W.I. COLE, 68, former pastor of the Seward Avenue Baptist church, died yesterday at his home 1240 Washburn avenue, after a long illness. He resigned as pastor of that church last January on account of his health. The Rev. Mr. COLE was born in Madison county, Fla., May 19, 1850. During his early education he prepared himself to become a lawyer, but after being admitted to the bar and practicing law in Florida for some time, he decided to enter the ministry. After being graduated from the William-Jewell college at Liberty, Mo., he was graduated from the Lousiville Theological seminary at Louisville, Ky. He was in the ministry 42 years. He was pastor of the North Topeka Baptist church four years, at Quinton Heights four years and at Seward Avenue six and one-half years. he also held pastorates at St. Joseph, Lexington and Excelsior Springs in Missouri and Sabetha, Kan. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and Scottish Rite bodies. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Walter I. COLE, Jr., of Sabetha, and Albert M. COLE, Holton; a daughter, Mrs. Paul B. Van Ness, Topeka, and two grandchildren, Marcia COLE, Sabetha; and Betty Jan Van Ness, Topeka. Funeral services will be at the North Topeka Baptist church at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery.
