The Topeka Daily Capital Friday February 1, 1952 Mrs. Gertrude Ellis. Mrs. Gertrude Ellis, 70, of 1020 Washington, died unexpectedly Thursday night from a heart attack while attending a song service at Brown's Chapel AME Church. Firemen responded to a first aid call and made an unsuccessful attempt to revive her. She was born January 8, 1882, in Topeka and was a life-long resident. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Edna BUCKNER, and Mrs. Inez HILLARD, both of Topeka, and Mrs. Virgil WASHINTON, Kansas City, Kan.; and six grandchildren. She had been a member of Brown's Chapel more than 30 years.
