    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Wednesday March 19, 1958 Joseph W. DeGroff. Joseph W. DeGROFF, 81, retired carpenter and construction foreman, died Tuesday at his home, 1046 MacVicar. He was born June 18, 1876, at Junction City and had lived in Topeka 53 years. He was a construction foreman when the Topeka High School building was erected. He also worked on the Crane Junior High School, the East Topeka Junior High School building, the National Reserve Building and the W.A.L. Thompson Hardware Co. building. He had been a member of the Topeka Carpenters Union 45 years and a foreman for 35 years. He also was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and the Modern Woodmen of America. His wife, Mrs. Sarah DeGROFF died in January, 1950. He is survived by a daughter, Miss Gertie Ruth DeGROFF, of the home; three granddaughters, Mrs. Marilyn DORRELL, Mrs. Jeanne HOLLOMAN and Miss Joy DeGROFF, all of Topeka, and five great-grandchildren. The Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
