    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday November 1, 1951 Lifelong Resident G.H. Gurtler, Dies. George H. GURTLER, 85, retired Topeka building contractor and native Topekan, died Wednesday morning in a Topeka hospital. his home was at 120 Evelyn. Mr. Gurtler was born July 22, 1866, in Topeka and was a lifelong resident of this city. He was a member of the Topeka fire department for several years. Later he resigned to become a general building contractor. Among the buildings he erected are the Roosevelt Junior High School, Curtis Junior High School, Insurance Building at Eighth and VanBuren and the Mulvane Art Building at Washuburn University. After he had retired from the contracting business, he was assistant building inspector for several years. He was a member of Golden Rule Lodge No. 90., A.F.& A.M. He is survived by a son, Jim Gurtler, Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Mrs. Beorgia TRULOVE, Topeka, a brother, Albert Gurtler, Topeka; a sister, Mrs. Glena LEACH, Chicago, Ill., 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
