The Topeka Daily Capital Monday January 8, 1951 William H. Stubbings. William Henry STUBBINGS, 83, former mayor of Scranton, died Sunday morning at his home, in Scranton. Mr. Stubbings was born February 1, 1867, at Blaenavon, England, and came to the United States with his parents when he was four years old and settled at Camden, Mo. He had made his home in Scranton since February, 1882. For years, he was financial secretary of the United Mine Workers local in that community. he also served as mayor, councilman, and street commissioner of Scranton over a period of years. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Scranton Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anne STUBBINGS fo the home; a daughter, Mrs. Virginia McALLISTER, Tulsa, Okla.; a son, S.Harris STUBBINGS, Topeka; a sister, Mrs. Nellie JACKSON, Centerville, Iowa; three grandchildren, Mrs. June SHELDON, Mrs. Audrey DIAL, and H. Kent STUBBINGS, all of Topeka, and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Scranton Methodist Church. The Scranton Masonic Lodge will conduct the graveside services.
