The Topeka Daily Capital Wednesday April 30, 1947 George E. Powell. George E. POWELL, 71, 2500 Illinois, died Tuesday afternoon enroute to a hospital following his collapse while at work at Eighteenth and Collins. Mr. Powell was born in Philadelphia, Ill., May 9, 1875, and had made his home in Topeka for the past 35 years. He was a member of Topeka Lodge No. 17, AF&AM. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. May Powell of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Nelson SMITH and Mrs. E.W. BOHNSACK and two sons, Steve and Burt Powell, all of Topeka; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Wall-Diffenderfer Chapel, Thursday afternoon at 3:30 and burial will take place in Topeka Cemetery.
