The Holton Recorder Jackson County Thursday February 15, 1923 Gerhardt--Vine. A pretty home wedding was solemnized at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chris VINE at Ontario on Wednesday, February 7, 1923, at 1:30 p.m., when their daughter Hattie was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to Mr. Wm. GERHARDT of Netawaka, Kan. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H.F. KROHN of Netawaka Lutheran church in the presence of immediate relatives and friends of the contracting parties. The bridal party took their place beneath a canopy of blue and white to the strains of Mendelssohn's Wedding March played by Miss Daisy OREGON. After an address to bride and groom by their pastor on Gen. 2-18, Miss Erna GERHARDT, sister of the groom, favored the guests with a vocal solo, "Oh Promise Me." Then the ceremony took place after which another solo, "I Love You Truly," was rendered by Geo. VINE, a brother of the bride. Then followed congratulations and all took their places to partake of a two-course wedding dinner. Miss Dora GROVE, cousin of the bride, was bridesmaid and Mr. Harry GERHARDT, cousin of the groom, was best man. The bride was gowned in light blue silk crepe de chine, wore a veil and carried a bouquet of fern leaves and white carnations. The bridesmaid wore pink silk crepe de chine and carried a small bouquet, while the groom was handsomely dressed in a navy blue serge suit and wore a buttonhole bouquet. The newly wedded couple left on the evening train from Holton for a short honeymoon trip to St. Joseph, Mo., after which they will make their home on the groom's farm south of Netawaka.
