The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday March 24, 1951 Hiram F. Smith. Hiram F. SMITH, 80, former Topekan, died Thursday night in St. Joseph, Mo. He was born March 13, 1871 in Seymour, Iowa, and came to Topeka when a small boy. He made his home in this city until he moved to St. Joseph, Mo., 18 years ago. He was a lineman for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., for 27 years. He was a member of the Waterloo, Iowa, Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite bodies of Topeka and the Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah E. SMITH of St. Joseph; a daughter, Mrs. Raymond NEWMAN, Topeka; two sons, Clarence Smith, Topeka, and Albert Smith, San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Robert Smith, Caldwell, Kan.; a sister, Mrs. Carrie SHERWOOD, Topeka; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. The body will be brought to Topeka for interment Monday.
